MoU between C-DAC & Kakatiya University

Electronic Manufacturing is one of the nine pillars of Digital India programme envisaged by government of India; and the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India is focussing its efforts to promote Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) in India. One of the key ingredients for the growth of ESDM Industry is availability of qualified human resource with right kind of capabilities, competencies and skills. It is envisaged that the employment in the Electronics industry is estimated to grow phenomenally. There is a greater need to promote research, enhance capacity and facilitate skill development in ESDM sector focusing on students/unemployed youth at ITI, Diploma, engineering graduates, etc. to increase their employability to work in Design & Manufacturing of Electronic Systems.
As part of implementing the National Policy on Electronics, the Department of Electronics & Information Technology has already launched ‘Capacity Building in the areas of Electronic Product Design and Production Technology’ project to carryout manpower development, promote affordable electronics design, R&D etc. as part of its to spur the growth of Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. The project is currently being implemented by C-DAC Hyderabad, NIELIT Chennai & NIELIT Aurangabad. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is a scientific society of the ministry of Communications & Information Technology.
In this regard, C-DAC Hyderabad is working closely with academic & research organizations, industry, etc., for designing & launching several formal and non-formal courses starting from certificate level to Post Graduate level and also undertake research (M.S./Ph.D), to meet the human resource requirement to the industry. In addition, action to undertake design & product development consultancy, technical services, faculty development, corporate training, etc., are also initiated. The activities are supported by eminent professors from IIT’s and members from industry.
As part of the project, Kakatiya University and C-DAC Hyderabad have come close to forge research & academic collaboration through MoU to facilitate bringing the knowledge being created to the ESDM industry. Collaboration of C-DAC Hyderabad with Kakatiya University - KU College of Engineering & Technology is for jointly launching research based programs like M.S/Ph.D and other non-formal programs which is more relevant to the industry etc. This would also facilitate undertaking joint R&D projects, sponsored projects, industrial consultancy, sharing of academic and research resources, offering Internship to the students in the research projects of C-DAC, launching programs targeted to meet industry requirement, etc.
An MoU was signed exchanged between the C-DAC Hyderabad and Kakatiya University. The purpose of this MoU is to derive benefits from collaboration, cooperation and interaction for Research & Development, Education & Training (Formal & Non-Formal) in the areas of ESDM and other areas of mutual interest in the domain of ICTE.
